Lawrence Beesley (1877â1967) was an English science teacher, journalist, and author who survived the sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912. He wrote a successful and detailed firsthand account of the disaster, published just nine weeks after the event. Beesley was educated at Derby School and Caius College, Cambridge, and later worked as a teacher and journalist.
