About AudiobookSoul
Audiobook reviews with soul
Why We Started AudiobookSoul
We got tired of wasting Audible credits on audiobooks that looked great on paper but were ruined by terrible narration. Or books with amazing narrators that made mediocre stories worth the listen.
Most audiobook reviews are just copy-paste publisher descriptions with a 5-star rating slapped on. They don't tell you if the narrator does good character voices. They don't mention if there's annoying mouth noise. They don't tell you if this is better as a physical book.
So we started AudiobookSoul - audiobook reviews with actual soul.
What "with Soul" Means
"Soul" isn't just a tagline. It's how we approach reviews.
When we say "reviews with soul," we mean:
- We actually listen to every audiobook we review
- We write about the full experience - story, narrator, context, feelings
- We tell you the truth, even when it's negative
- We don't follow templates - each review is unique
- We're not "experts" - just people who listen too much
No marketing fluff. No AI-generated summaries. No fake 5-star ratings for everything.
Just honest takes on whether an audiobook is worth your time.
What We Review
Every AudiobookSoul review covers:
đ The Story
Plot, pacing, writing quality. Is it actually good?
đī¸ The Narrator
Performance, character voices, emotional delivery. Do they bring it to life or ruin it?
đ¨ Audio Quality
Production quality, mouth noises, volume issues. Any technical problems?
đ Context
Best for commute? Gym? Sleep? When and where does this work best?
Plus: author background, personal reactions, social commentary, connections to other books, and anything else that matters for this specific audiobook.
We don't force every review to cover the same topics. We write what matters.
Our Rating System
We use dual ratings:
- Book Rating (1-5â ): Story, writing, plot
- Narrator Rating (1-5â ): Performance, delivery, voice acting
Why separate? Because a 5â story with 2â narration = waste of your Audible credit. And a 3â story with 5â narration might be worth the listen anyway.
Every review ends with The Verdict:
- Must Listen đ§: Worth your time and credit
- Read Instead đ: Story's good, narration ruins it
- Sample First đ: Subjective - listen to the sample before buying
Who We Are
We're audiobook addicts who've collectively listened to thousands of audiobooks. Commuters. Gym-goers. Bedtime listeners. People who can't cook without an audiobook playing.
We're not literary critics. We're not professional reviewers. We're not "influencers."
We're just people who've wasted too many credits on badly narrated books and want to save you from the same fate.
What Makes Us Different
Unlike other audiobook review sites:
- âWe actually analyze narrator performance. Most sites ignore this completely or mention it in one sentence.
- âWe're honest about bad audiobooks. Not everything gets 5 stars and glowing praise.
- âWe include listening context. Best for commute? Gym? Falling asleep? We tell you.
- âWe note technical audio issues. Mouth noises, pacing problems, volume inconsistencies - we call them out.
- âWe write with personality. No corporate-speak, no marketing jargon, no AI summaries.
How We Make Money
We're transparent about this: We earn commissions through Audible and Amazon affiliate links.
When you click "Listen on Audible" and make a purchase, we get a small percentage. It doesn't cost you anything extra - it's how Amazon/Audible pay for referrals.
This doesn't influence our reviews. We call out bad audiobooks regardless of potential commissions.
If we say an audiobook sucks, we're literally losing money by telling you not to buy it. But we'd rather lose the commission than have you waste your credit on garbage.
