Kate Chopin

Kate Chopin (1850–1904) was an American novelist and short-story writer known for her pioneering exploration of women's roles and identities in the late 19th century. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she is best known for her 1899 novel The Awakening, which was initially controversial but later acclaimed as a classic feminist work. Her stories often depict the lives of sensitive, daring women in Louisiana Creole culture.
