George Orwell

George Orwell, born Eric Arthur Blair in 1903, was an English novelist, essayist, and critic best known for his novels Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four. His works often critique totalitarianism and social injustice, drawing from his experiences in the Spanish Civil War and his observations of political regimes. Orwell's biography by D.J. Taylor won the 2003 Whitbread Biography Award.
