Carlo Collodi, born Carlo Lorenzini in 1826 in Florence, Italy, was an Italian author, journalist, and humorist best known for his children's novel The Adventures of Pinocchio. He was also active in political journalism and satirical writing during the Italian unification period. Collodi died in 1890 in Florence.
